Stafford Borough Council's Cabinet have finally decided how they will respond to the Department of Transport consultation over the proposed new M6 Toll Motorway. They have decided that

"The lack of sufficient detail in the consultation document makes it difficult to give a properly considered view on the proposal"

This position is unbelievable! It is obvious that the Council must want to support the plan otherwise they would have just said no. Perhaps they have taken position because they don't want to be seen taking an opposite stance to that of David Chambers their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the town and a number of Conservative Councillors whose wards would be effected if the plan was approved . This position is also difficult to understand following the comments made at a recent meeting with the Highways Agency when the Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration said that this proposal should be given serious consideration!

Although the the time as now passed for local residents to respond to Government's consultation a number of residents are still asking what is proposed.
