Launches Campaign to Reduce A518 Speed Limit |
Barry Stamp has
launched a major campaign to get the speed limit on the A518
between Haughton and Newport reduced to 50mph. As well as fighting
to get this reduction Barry is also calling for permanent and
mobile speed cameras to be used to ensure the new limit is enforced.
"Over the past couple of years the number of fatalities
on the A518 has continued to rise. In response the County Council
has made some superficial changes such as putting up a few extra
warning signs. I don't think this is good enough and I will be
fighting for more positive action to be taken. The first thing
I believe needs to happen is the speed limit should be reduced,
Over the next few weeks I will be delivering a petition form
to every house in Gnosall and Haughton. However if anyone else
would like to add their name to the petition there is an online
form on this website. The more people that sign the more the
County Council will have to listen" said Barry Stamp. |
