Barry
Stamp has today described the County Councils answers to how
they intend to prevent further accidents on the A518 near Park
Lane in the centre of Haughton as beyond belief. After the latest
accident in which a car again left the road and demolished a
wall on the corner of Park Lane Barry wrote to the Highways Department
asking for something to be done to improve the situation. They
have now replied to say the intend to repaint the white lines
down the centre of the road and access the road surface. Barry
believes this is not enough!
"Over the past couple of
years there have been a number of accidents at this spot. In
nearly ever case vehicles travelling from Stafford have left
the road, mounted the footpath, and have hit the garden wall
on the corner of Park Lane. I, and local residents are concerned
that someone walking along the path will be killed. However all
the County Council intend to do about the problem is repaint
the white lines! This is not enough and I will fight to get more
done," said Barry.
