Barry Stamp is becoming increasingly
concerned that some passengers who want to use the recently reinstated
482 bus service to Bradley and Church Eaton are missing out because
some drivers are not following the proper route. Over the last
few days he has been told that it appears common practice that
the last bus of the day from Stafford will miss out part of the
set route if there are no passengers on board who want to get
off at certain points. This means that instead of going through
Derrington and Bradley the bus will miss that part of the route
if the only passengers on board want to travel to Church Eaton.
"By taking this short cut
the bus can miss passengers who want to board somewhere along
the route. I've now been told that one school boy who wanted
to travel to Bradley was left waiting in Haughton because the
driver went straight to Church Eaton to drop off his last passenger.
At a time when the performance of this route is being closely
monitored it is important all passengers are picked up. I am
extremely worried that at the next review the County Council
will say that not enough people are using the service and that
they cannot afford to continue it's funding. I have already raised
the issue with them and have asked them to ensure that drivers
go to every stop," said Barry Stamp.
