Barry Stamp Chosen As Prospective Parliamentary Candidate For Stafford Stafford Liberal Democrats have chosen Barry Stamp as their prospective parliamentary candidate to challenge David Kidney at the next general election. Barry, who is both a Stafford Borough and County Councillor, beat off the challenge from other hopefuls by securing the overwhelming backing of local party members. As a Staffordian I am extremely proud to have been selected as the prospective candidate for the Stafford seat. I believe passionately in what Stafford has to offer, but feel that over the years the town as been badly let down by its MPs. Having been born and raised in Stafford I understand only too well the hope, fears and aspirations of the all the residents. My work as a Borough Councillor has given me a great insight into many of the problems the community faces. Over the past twelve months we have seen this government close a number of local post offices across the town, reduce, in real terms, the funding for both the Borough and County Councils, and in the last few days announce the closure of part of RAF Stafford. Living and working in the Stafford community I know just how these changes are affecting the lives of local residents. I believe it is time the Stafford constituency is represented by a Staffordian who is prepared to fight for his town, said Councillor Stamp. Paul Brett, Chairman of the Stafford Constituency Liberal Democrats said, I am delighted the membership has selected Barry as their prospective candidate. His record of campaigning on local issues is second to none and his hard work on behalf of the residents of Stafford is well known. Barry will make an excellent MP for Stafford and all our members will be working hard over the coming months to ensure that happens.
